Mercury in Aries in the Seventh House

The placement of Mercury in Овен indicates you have a need for mental self-assurance. Very often, the tentative mental apparatus that you possess needs to be reinforced by a heavy dose of assertiveness. Much of the behavior and many of the personality characteristics associated with Mercury in Aries are a result of this need to be mentally confident. Being able to turn your thoughts and words into action may also provide self-confidence.

Mercury is generally well-placed in Aries. Aries is the Cardinal Fire sign. The active fiery nature of Aries symbolically harmonizes well with the quick and airy nature of Mercury. Thus, the Mercury-associated functions are stimulated and activated. There is a danger, however, that Mercury’s mental energy could be overwhelmed by Aries’ need to act, resulting in mental impulsiveness and lack of self-control. This danger is symbolized by the natural quincunx between Aries and Mercury-ruled Virgo.

Insecurities

With Mercury in Aries, mental insecurity stems from a subconscious realization that the mind is treading on new and uncharted round. It must keep up its confidence despite its lack of experience. This need to keep from giving into insecurity and maintain self-assertion often leads to mental bravado or recklessness, as the ego needs to prove itself. This mental insecurity can also manifest in your having such a need to prove yourself mentally that you are overly aggressive and argumentative.

Mercury in the 7th House:

The 7th House is generally a favorable placement for Mercury, since it tends to bring out the communication function represented by the planet. As an individual with Mercury in the 7th House, you are likely to enjoy the communication involved in relationships, especially when others respond favorably to your communications and to your mental energy. You may, therefore, be quite active in forming and carrying on relationships with a variety of people. You are likely to enjoy people due to the mental stimulation that they provide you.

Having Mercury in the 7th House, your thoughts may dwell on your actual or potential relationships with others. If you become too mentally involved, you may become overly analytical or critical of your relationships. You may also suffer from worry over your relationships.  With Mercury in the 7th House, you may also be vulnerable to your thoughts and perceptions being influenced by your отношения partner(s) or even by those with whom you come in contact. The thought of wanting to please other people may become too dominant, to the extent that you lose your independence of mind or say things you really don’t believe in because you want others to think well of you.

Insecurities

As an individual with Mercury in the 7th House, if you are inwardly insecure, you will be overly concerned with what others think of you. Your thoughts will dwell too much on the reactions that others have to you and you worry about this constantly. This may make you cautious or reluctant to communicate to others or you may say only what you think others want to hear. Because of your own insecurities about your self-worth, you may assume that others think ill of you. This may lead you to adopt a highly critical attitude towards others as a defense mechanism. In this, you are merely responding in-kind to the attitudes that you assume others express toward you. When your negative attitudes go beyond just thinking, you may become verbally abusive.

Intellect’s Focus

With Mercury in the 7th House, your intellect tends to be focused on others. You are likely to pay attention to what others think and the opinions that they express before forming your own opinions. You will also generally think about and analyze your relationships. This generally helps you to put your relationships in perspective, define yourself with respect to others and foster growth in your relationships. If you have an intellectual or academic interest in relationships, this may lead to a career in psychology or counseling.
