The placement of Mars in Scorpio indicates that you are likely to have desires that spring from a need for power or intimacy and that your actions are likely to be influenced by your intense emotional drives. This often manifests in your actions having an intensity that is the result of focused emotional energy. Others may, therefore, see you as powerful or aggressive. Much of the behavior and many of the personality characteristics associated with Mars in Scorpio are a result of your deep need for emotional security that is brought about through intimacy  or feeling that you are in control of your actions and desires.

If you are female, you are likely to be attracted to someone who projects or embodies Scorpio-associated traits. This often manifests as an attraction to powerful, magnetic or sexually vibrant men.

Having Mars in Scorpio, because you are inwardly insecure, you are always seeking power in order to validate your selfhood and attain a feeling of security. If you attain power, you mistake the power that you feel as being personal and yours, rather than recognizing the truth that all power is from the One Source and is only lent to us for our use. Because you have a need to prove your superiority to yourself, you use this power to dominate others. Pure lust for power is a symptom of your inner feeling of powerlessness.  With Mars in Scorpio, you may also fear being controlled and so, in defense, seek to act to control others. On the other hand, if you are extremely insecure, you may shrink from asserting power either out of fear of the consequences should you misuse that power or out of fear that your use of power may prompt someone with greater power to exercise it against you.

You know, often intuitively, both the appropriate form and the ultimate consequence of your actions. Your actions may, therefore, appear to others to be strong, powerful and fearless. This often inspires trust and respect. The outcome of this is often that you are placed in a position where you can lead or manage others.  With Mars in the 8th House, the intimacy that you wish to experience through your actions is often viewed by you in terms of control. If you can control through your actions, then you can enforce an intimate relationship with the object of control. This desire for control sometimes becomes an obsession. It may extend to all of your actions, from a desire to have power over others, to a desire to maintain control over your own actions, to a will to dominate your sexual partner.  As an individual with Mars in the 8th House, sometimes this desire for control can have an inhibiting effect on your active function. You become retentive and may have difficulty acting. You may wish only to act in secret so as to protect your “power.” The polarity of this is the urge to liberate the power of action that resides within you.
