Mars in Scorpio in the Sixth House

The placement of Mars in Scorpio indicates that you are likely to have desires that spring from a need for power or intimacy and that your actions are likely to be influenced by your intense emotional drives. This often manifests in your actions having an intensity that is the result of focused emotional energy. Others may, therefore, see you as powerful or aggressive. Much of the behavior and many of the personality characteristics associated with Mars in Scorpio are a result of your deep need for emotional security that is brought about through intimacy  or feeling that you are in control of your actions and desires.

Although Scorpio was formerly considered to be ruled by Mars, the Mars in Scorpio placement has its ambiguities. This is symbolized by the natural quincunx between Scorpio and Mars-ruled Aries. Scorpio is the Fixed Water sign. The active functions associated with Mars symbolically tap into the source of power inherent in Scorpio’s watery depths. The Mars-Scorpio relación may be likened to that of fire and water in a boiler. What is produced is high-pressured steam and energy. When there is a controlled and constructive outlet for this energy, it is a powerful source  of work. If the energy is blocked, suppressed and bottled up with no outlet, it becomes destructively explosive. As alluded to above, this often is associated with an identification of masculinity with sexuality and often, the Scorpio Mars male must struggle to rise above this tendency or to overcome or control intense sexual impulses. If you are female, you are likely to be attracted to someone who projects or embodies Scorpio-associated traits. This often manifests as an attraction to powerful, magnetic or sexually vibrant men.

Having Mars in Scorpio, because you are inwardly insecure, you are always seeking power in order to validate your selfhood and attain a feeling of security. If you attain power, you mistake the power that you feel as being personal and yours, rather than recognizing the truth that all power is from the One Source and is only lent to us for our use. Because you have a need to prove your superiority to yourself, you use this power to dominate others. Pure lust for power is a symptom of your inner feeling of powerlessness.  With Mars in Scorpio, you may also fear being controlled and so, in defense, seek to act to control others. On the other hand, if you are extremely insecure, you may shrink from asserting power either out of fear of the consequences should you misuse that power or out of fear that your use of power may prompt someone with greater power to exercise it against you.

Mars in the 6th House:

Mars in the 6th House suggests that, though you may engage in many externally directed actions, the ultimate aim of your activity is to improve yourself and, particularly, to refine the rough edges of your personality. The 6th House symbolizes the gradual shift of focus from self to other. Consequently, you desire to present to others an image and a person that lives up to your own ideals and values. Consciously or subconsciously, therefore, having Mars in the 6th House, your actions are designed to make you a more suitable person for social contact and social interaction.

As an individual with Mars in the 6th House, this often involves you learning more humility and learning how to subordinate your own desires to the will of others. Therefore, the desire/action function may not appear to be particularly strong in you. It may appear that you are suppressing your own desires and acting on other people’s desires or wishes. In actuality, you are manifesting your deeper desire to sublimate your ego in order to gain the favor and respect of others.

With Mars in the 6th House, if you are inwardly insecure, you will continually find yourself in subservient positions and you will chafe at your lack of ability or opportunity to actualize your own desires. You will be frustrated at the restrictions that are placed on you and at how you have to work and obey others in order to obtain what you want to have. To willingly submit appears to you like admitting defeat. In truth, having Mars in the 6th House, you do not want to submit out of fear that your own individuality will disappear and be consumed in serving the will of others.

Having Mars in the 6th House, you are not so secure of your own identity that you feel you can maintain your integrity as a slave of the will of others. Out of this fear of submission, you often attempt to control your circumstances and your own actions. You may become obsessed or absorbed in the detail of exerting control and not letting anything get out of your control. Since the world is ever fluid and since so many  circumstances are beyond your control, with Mars in the 6th House, your level of frustration is bound to show  itself through either loss of temper, or scattered, wild or neurotic activity, or further  attempts to obsessively maintain control.

You may therefore experience a constant desire for self-improvement.  Sometimes, this may manifest as never being satisfied with yourself or the level to which you have attained. You may also have a desire for health, good working conditions and relations and, generally, to be thought of as a good and competent person.
