This is a defense mechanism that allows you to avoid intimate emotional experience.

Focus of Emotional Development

As an individual with your Moon in the 9th House, you will tend to develop emotionally by acquiring broad experiences (e.g., travel) and by attempting to understand your own emotionality. Thus, emotional development may occur later in life, after a sufficient amount of experience has been accumulated and your horizons have been widened. Your emotions may also lean toward excitement and enthusiasm as appropriate emotional responses to your discovery of a wider world.
