Venus in Leo in the Seventh House

The placement of Venus in Leo indicates that you have a need to be appreciated within your relationships and this need is also reflected in the way in which you formulate your value system. This sometimes manifests as a need to be dominant (or have your authority acknowledged) in a relationship. With Venus in Leo, your need to be appreciated and noticed also may manifest in your adopting values that are in harmony with creativity, thus allowing you the scope to be dramatic and draw attention to yourself. Much of the behavior and many of the personality characteristics associated with Venus in Leo are a result of your need to value creativity and feel respected and appreciated in your relationships.

Venus’ placement in Leo is especially ambivalent, as is symbolized by the natural square between Leo and Venus-ruled Taurus combined with the natural sextile between Leo and Libra, which is also ruled by Venus. Leo is the Fixed Fire sign. Venus is symbolically energized by Leo’s fire, but this fire energy may also be discomforting for the naturally passive nature associated with Venus. Regarding relationships with Venus in Leo, on the one hand, you are likely to enjoy being “on display” to others, and particularly to your partner. On the other hand, the inherent self-centeredness often associated with Leo sometimes makes sharing a relationship difficult. Venus is generally comfortable with the stable, fixed nature of Leo, since this is supportive of relationship. However, when Leo’s fire energy turns this fixity to active stubbornness, the result is not likely to be positive.

Venus also symbolizes the anima in the psyche. Thus, if you are female with Venus in Leo, you are likely to model your femininity in order to incorporate characteristics typically associated with Leo. If you are male, you are likely to be attracted to someone who projects or embodies Leo-associated traits.

Insecurities

As an individual with Venus in Leo, if you are insecure within yourself, you are likely to have a fear of being unnoticed and unappreciated. This often leads you to try too hard to be liked by others. Domineering relationships may be the result. You may either dominate your partner to bolster your own security – forcing him or her to acknowledge you – or in your insecurity and lack of self-esteem you may attract someone who will dominate you. With Venus in Leo, you may also settle for someone who is “below your level” in your desperation to enter a relationship in which you are appreciated and acknowledged to be superior.

Venus in the 7th House:

Venus rules the 7th House and this placement gives it a favored position. Particularly the relationship function of Venus achieves an easy expression here. With Venus in the 7th House, you are likely to possess highly developed relationship skills. At the least, your relations with others will be of utmost importance to you. You not only place a high value on interpersonal relationships, but your entire value system tends to be people-oriented. Having Venus in the 7th House, you tend to evaluate whether a thing is pleasing or displeasing according to its effect on the quality of your relationships. This may cause you, at times, to lay too much emphasis on the opinions of others, deferring to their preferences for the sake of interpersonal harmony.

Insecurities

As an individual with Venus in the 7th House, if your sense of self is insecure, you will go through relationships in a dependent mode. You will be drawn to interpersonal relationships so strongly that you will not be able to imagine an existence or a personality separate from the relationship. You almost cease to exist as an entity. With Venus in the 7th House, relationships then become just a crutch for your own insecurity. Your partner becomes a substitute for your own authenticity. You live totally within the relationship and, if the relationship is threatened, you feel threatened with disaster, because without your partner, there is nothing left of you.

 Evaluation Focus

Having Venus in the 7th House, your evaluative faculty is focused on the area of interpersonal relationships.  How things and events affect the relationships in which you are involved becomes the critical evaluative factor for you. You are also inclined to evaluate how the actions of others will affect you. You also have a tendency to be more active in making judgments concerning people and relationships than about other things. With Venus in the 7th House, you may be considered to be a shrewd judge of people or you may become overly critical and judgmental of others.
